Flex Extra Tryouts: Rain make up.
The rained out Flex Extra Tryouts (formally Plus program) will be held
Sunday March 7 at Windrow Park.
The tryouts that are being made up are:
Boys and Girls U12 (birthday range 8/01/98 - 7/31/99): 1 - 2 pm
Boys and Girls U13 (8/01/97 - 7/31/98): 2 - 3 pm
Boys and Girls U14 (8/01/96 - 7/31/97): 3 - 4 pm
Girls only U11 (8/01/99 - 7/31/00): 3 - 4 pm
Please show up 15 minutes early to check-in and warm-up on your own. If you
have already attended a tryout, we encourage you to attend this second one,
but you are only required to attend a single tryout. In order to ensure
that everyone is informed of the make-up date, we are using multiple email
lists, so we apologize if you receive this multiple times.
We expect to be finalizing all teams sometime next week, unless tryouts are
rained out again.
What is AYSO Flex Extra (formally AYSO Plus)?
"Club Soccer Experience with guaranteed one full half of playing time"
opportunity to participate in a more competitive level of soccer play
without the substantial increase in cost, time commitment, and travel
required of club soccer. The AYSO Flex Extra program is run during the
fall season with a post season tournament. Teams may also participate
in a pre and other post season tournaments. Region 144 teams compete
against other AYSO Flex Extra teams from Area Q (Costa
Mesa/Tustin/Newport /North Irvine/Corona del Mar ), Area L (Mission
Viejo, Lake Forest, San Clemente), and Area K (Huntington Beach). Our
region will select one team per gender and age group, based on tryouts
and enough qualified participants. To participate in this program,
interested players must participate in the AYSO Flex Extra tryouts. At
the tryouts each player will be evaluated on their ball handling
skills, offensive and defensive ability, game sense, speed and
attitude, by a group of independent evaluators and Region 144's AYSO
Flex Extra coaches from the various age groups.
If a player is selected for an AYSO Flex Extra team, he/she must
register within 2 weeks of selection or they will be dropped and a
replacement player selected. The registration fee for players selected
to a team will be $250. The fees cover the Fall season, uniforms, and 2
tournaments (registration fee only; each team must post a referee
deposit with our region). Registration fees are nonrefundable. Team
practices will start August 1st.
All AYSO registered players are welcome to tryout. Even if a player
should not qualify for the AYSO Flex Extra program based on the
observations of the evaluators, they can participate in the regular
fall soccer program in Region 144.
